Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using vob, you agree to these terms. vob is provided by Babe Elliott Baker, a sole proprietor based in California ("we", "us", "our"). If you don't agree, don't use vob.
What vob is
vob is a desktop notes application. The note-taking app itself — writing, linking, the graph view, calendar, and search — is free and works offline.
vob also includes an optional AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude model, reached through Cloudflare AI Gateway. You don't bring an API key. Assistant usage is paid for in credits.
Credits and billing (assistant only)
- You only spend credits when you use the AI assistant. The rest of the app is free.
- Every new install receives a one-time $1.00 USD trial credit, bound to your device, so you can try the assistant.
- Additional credits can be purchased in $10.00 USD packs via Stripe Checkout.
- Each assistant call deducts credits based on the upstream model cost with a margin added.
- All prices are in US dollars.
- Credits do not expire.
No refunds
All sales are final. Once credits are added to your balance, they are non-refundable. If something goes wrong on our end — for example, you were charged but credits weren't added — email hello@vobmd.com and we'll make it right.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use vob to generate unlawful, harmful, or abusive content;
- Attempt to reverse-engineer our billing system, bypass charges, or abuse the trial credit;
- Resell or redistribute vob without our written permission;
- Use vob to violate Anthropic's Usage Policies.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Unused credits at the time of a for-cause termination are forfeit.
Your content
You own everything you write in vob. Notes live on your device and are never uploaded to us. Anything you send through the assistant is processed by Anthropic via Cloudflare AI Gateway under their respective terms; we don't retain that content on our servers. Anthropic operates under their Commercial Terms of Service, which means they do not use your inputs or outputs to train their models by default.
Disclaimer of warranties
vob is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the assistant's responses are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose. Do not rely on vob for medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or related to your use of vob — whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars ($50). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app, and the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use of vob after an update means you accept the revised terms.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under or related to these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
